Invoice Studio walkthrough: invoices, payments and renewals
A screen recording of the running application, start to finish: nothing staged, nothing edited out.
What the walkthrough shows
One account, followed from the moment it is created to the point where the dashboard has something to report. The company and bank details are entered once and print on every invoice after that; a client is added; an invoice is written, previewed as a PDF, issued, and part paid. Then two things sold by the year — hosting and a domain — are billed from the renewals tracker onto a second invoice without any of it being typed twice.
Everything on screen is the running application, not slides and not a mock-up. The account is on the Business plan rather than the free one: the history the dashboard reports on includes a second client, which the free plan does not allow, and tracking renewals is a Business feature.
In the clip, in order
- Open an account from the home page: an email address, a name and a password. No card.
- Enter the company address, VAT number and bank details once. The IBAN becomes the payment instructions on every invoice.
- Add the client being billed, with the address that prints on the document.
- Write the invoice: two lines, quantities and unit prices, with the totals and VAT keeping up as they are typed.
- Open the preview. It is the real PDF, and a draft carries a DRAFT mark so that one cannot go out by accident.
- Issue it. The document is numbered and locked, and the draft mark is gone.
- Record what actually arrived - a part payment here - and paid and still due stay apart.
- Add hosting to the renewals tracker - twelve months, the day the period ends, and how much notice you and the client get.
- Bill both onto a new invoice in one click, add a third line from a saved description and a billing period, and both renewal dates roll on a year.
- Read the dashboard: owed to you, owed back, past due and collected, one figure per currency, with twelve months behind it.
Do the same with your own invoice
Everything in the clip fits the free plan except the second client. Drafts are unlimited and cost nothing - you are only counted when you issue.
